Missouri law requires documents to be on 8.5 by 11 inch white paper with a minimum 3-inch top margin on the first page. The type must be at least 8-point size, as stated in Section 59.310 of the Missouri Revised Statutes. Documents that do not meet these standards still get recorded, but the non-standard fee applies. Under Section 59.313, that adds a $25 penalty to the base recording fee.
